Money

The local currency is Turkish Lira (TL). Foreign currency can be exchanged at the airport, banks, hotels and exchange offices. All major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard) are accepted in hotels, shops and restaurants. You can also use the Visa/Mastercard in ATM/cash machine to get money.

Shopping

While small shops are open from 07:00 to 21:00, Shopping Malls are open 10:00-22:00 every day. There are some additional options to buy something from kiosk, market or grocery, which can be found almost everywhere.

Tax

A Value Added Tax (VAT) of 18% is charged on most goods and services. There is some tax free shops for tourists.

Electricity

General household electric power is 220V, 50Hz. Two round-pin plugs are standard. A standard voltage converter and plug adapter should be sufficient for conversions.

Even though Trabzon is safe place, you should pay attention your suitcase, valuable stuff and personal effects. It is recommended that you use hotel room for safety. Do not leave anything unattended any time.
